Hard work really counts

My stay in the The NORSUnian for almost two years now was reasonably fulfilling. From being a newbie for a year to senior writer, challenges had been my very inspiration to do better things though acquainted with the ups and downs both shouldered in my left and right hands. The posture of being a writer and a student at the same time was never been easy and is considered beyond the responsibility of being a casual student.

Remembering those moments somehow dragged and took me to the point of bringing back to mind again when I was still a newbie together with the rest of my batch mates. We were back then naïve and afraid to some top editors in the publication knowing that they possessed respect among themselves that even going inside the TN office was a fear to amongst us. However, it did not last long when we were getting acquainted with them.

Moreover, as the latter went on, sort of comfort and care were developed that they were making us twigs in the publication. Love and understanding overruled the pub that every time we aren’t around, they were looking for us. They seemed to miss us even a single second.

In order to pay them back, we sorted of passing articles as prompt as we can. We passed articles weekly despite the hectic schedules being a student in our own. We make it sure we have articles to present during the meeting. We work hard with dedication and patience. Some received appreciations for being good writers while some remained the same way.

I was also back then like others who passed articles only for commendations. But it changed when I was promoted senior writer. I knew very well that to be a writer higher than others entails bigger responsibility. So, I need to work harder, I need to pass articles to the best of my ability so as to pay back their trust given to me. And fortunately, I have proved them my worth. I have been very diligent in passing news articles, features articles and even columns. They have even awarded me thrice for being best writer. Somehow, this has motivated me to be better, bolder and brave enough to handle jargons from others.

My stay being a senior writer hadn't last long. Today, majority of the staffs have spoken so as new beginning has to be started. From being a senior writer, I am now a News Editor of the official student weekly publication of Negros Oriental State University- The NORSUnian. My felicitations to you guys for the trusts and confidence you have given to me.

I know you are thinking serious this time. So I will tell you, stay calm and just be fascinated with things around the bushes. I know many things have to be corrected and be placed back to its original position. We will do these one by one at right pace of time. And with our collaborative might, together we can make change.

Furthermore, since I will be working and manning new staffs, new publication and new responsibility next school year, it is expected that you will do your best as much as I can. I believed this can only happen through your cooperation.

Since you have voted me as your News Editor, I am expecting big from all of you guys as much as you do. We knew much has to be changed for greater and bolder student leadership and advocacy, so we can. Kudos TN and congratulations!

Be also inspired like me with these statements of R. Shannon and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as we venture together the new school year that is full of challenges and trials fused with new responsibilities.

The ability to keep a cool head in an emergency, maintain poise in the midst of excitement, and to refuse to be stampeded are true marks of leadership. - R. Shannon

The ultimate measure of man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

  3. I believe we can do this if and only if we are bold enough to supress our fears in the field.
Together with your leadership we can make change.
