More than Paid Training

I think, I am two months away since the last time I visited and posted something in my blogs.  Now, I am posting again something new to share with you my past experiences which I find can be worth-sharing for.

I had my Teleflora training done in three days yesterday. It was tiring yet inspiring. It was so surreal when we had our trainer so kind and beautiful. "Jessie Dolia, do you have any problem?" she called my attention upon staring at her in the middle of the discussion. I can't just help but straightly look at her.
"Nothing miss Kacy, nothing!" I replied in a moderate voice. I seemed to have lost my jaws as I answered her.

"Ok, since we don't know you yet, kindly introduce yourself to us, your school name if you're still studying, your course, your positive and negative experience during the Valentines day ramp and your expectation for this ramp," she said.

At distance deemed to have shown my enthusiasm, I answered in excitement and finally said, "I  am Jessie P. Dolia, studying my Bachelor's degree in Mathematics at Negros Oriental State University, incoming third year this June. I leave my impression both positive in my experiences and expecting something new this ramp." LOL, I answered in giggle.

As the training went on, we are knowing each other more. I am excited as to what will happen next. I will be anticipating the chance of getting to her more closer as we go on the ramp. Lol, and you also wait my future post okay!

By the way, she's Kacy Espancho. She's the one I'm telling to you.

Hard work really counts

My stay in the The NORSUnian for almost two years now was reasonably fulfilling. From being a newbie for a year to senior writer, challenges had been my very inspiration to do better things though acquainted with the ups and downs both shouldered in my left and right hands. The posture of being a writer and a student at the same time was never been easy and is considered beyond the responsibility of being a casual student.

Remembering those moments somehow dragged and took me to the point of bringing back to mind again when I was still a newbie together with the rest of my batch mates. We were back then naïve and afraid to some top editors in the publication knowing that they possessed respect among themselves that even going inside the TN office was a fear to amongst us. However, it did not last long when we were getting acquainted with them.

Moreover, as the latter went on, sort of comfort and care were developed that they were making us twigs in the publication. Love and understanding overruled the pub that every time we aren’t around, they were looking for us. They seemed to miss us even a single second.

In order to pay them back, we sorted of passing articles as prompt as we can. We passed articles weekly despite the hectic schedules being a student in our own. We make it sure we have articles to present during the meeting. We work hard with dedication and patience. Some received appreciations for being good writers while some remained the same way.

I was also back then like others who passed articles only for commendations. But it changed when I was promoted senior writer. I knew very well that to be a writer higher than others entails bigger responsibility. So, I need to work harder, I need to pass articles to the best of my ability so as to pay back their trust given to me. And fortunately, I have proved them my worth. I have been very diligent in passing news articles, features articles and even columns. They have even awarded me thrice for being best writer. Somehow, this has motivated me to be better, bolder and brave enough to handle jargons from others.

My stay being a senior writer hadn't last long. Today, majority of the staffs have spoken so as new beginning has to be started. From being a senior writer, I am now a News Editor of the official student weekly publication of Negros Oriental State University- The NORSUnian. My felicitations to you guys for the trusts and confidence you have given to me.

I know you are thinking serious this time. So I will tell you, stay calm and just be fascinated with things around the bushes. I know many things have to be corrected and be placed back to its original position. We will do these one by one at right pace of time. And with our collaborative might, together we can make change.

Furthermore, since I will be working and manning new staffs, new publication and new responsibility next school year, it is expected that you will do your best as much as I can. I believed this can only happen through your cooperation.

Since you have voted me as your News Editor, I am expecting big from all of you guys as much as you do. We knew much has to be changed for greater and bolder student leadership and advocacy, so we can. Kudos TN and congratulations!

Be also inspired like me with these statements of R. Shannon and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as we venture together the new school year that is full of challenges and trials fused with new responsibilities.

The ability to keep a cool head in an emergency, maintain poise in the midst of excitement, and to refuse to be stampeded are true marks of leadership. - R. Shannon

The ultimate measure of man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Shortage leads you destruction

Shortage of finances oftentimes makes us bad. It sometimes triggers us to get belongings which are not ours and frighteningly imprisoned us emotionally. It is very painful to hear that some people are still doing these stuffs. Due to this, some are most likely engaging themselves into killings, drug addiction, thievery and etc. We cannot blame them, it is their way of making themselves better in order to survive. We call this survival of the mighty. Generally, many people craved because, according to them, of poverty. It is their opinion, we respect that.

But, what if that shortage is the result of your sluggishness, extravagance and dependence? Would it be a right reason to say that poverty really matters? From the morbid reality, one can still live despite poverty, only if, you have the courage to live and bold enough to make change. When you are determined and industrious, patient and understanding, you can be the best among others.

This reality somehow awaken my thought/opinion because of the incident in our boarding house which took place yesterday evening. To give you full details, let me start this by describing this person.

He was hailed from Bayawan City, a native. He is studying in one of the respected state universities in Negros Oriental, the Negros Oriental State University, also known as NORSU, its popular name. He is a third year Bachelor of Science in Geology student. He always plays DotA and other related gaming recreation today.

I knew him because he was my roommate for almost a year now. He is a christian, a pious leader, a kind  and a motivated person. Because of this he gained respect and trust from all his subordinates, even myself. However, he broke these trusts when he did something unexpected. He betrayed us by getting our money.

Yesterday, around 8:15 in the evening, I, together with the rest my house colleagues, two of which are my roommate went  to Arman's eatery to have our dinner. This person I am talking to you was left alone in the room, lying on his bed and watching  a movie in his laptop. Knowing that we left our pouch and wallets containing big amounts of money, he hurriedly locked the door. We don't mind about it knowing that all is fine. So, we headed directly to our purpose-to have our dinner.

After few minutes, he followed us and also partook his dinner. Afterwards, he went somewhere else we don't exactly know. By the time we were done with our dinner, we went back home. To our surprise, a 1000 peso-bill of my friend Jermel, our roommate, was already gone. And boooops, the money was lost..

We got panicked and disrupted. Jermel almost cried since the amount is for his sister's tuition fee. 'He' was our suspect. Jermel decided to go the police station to blotter the incident and reported the incident.
He called the 'He' and confronted him. But the 'He' denied. "Wala ko gakuha sa imong kwarta, nganu gung akong kuhaun?," he said.

A tactic came to Jermel's mind- a peace talk negotiation. So, he talked with guy in a nice way, asking to return the amount since it is for her sister tuition fee, especially that final examination of his sister is coming. With the peace talk, the guy, returned the money and said: "Dili naku intention nga kuhaun tong kwarta, nahutdan lang ko ug kwarta, wala pa ko padal-e sa akong papa, sorry kaayo," he apologized.

And the problem was solved. They reconciled and pardoned each other.

The guy has not even felt shame of his acts but rather felt easy and lucky as if nothing happened. My respect and trust have also been deteriorated. Now, I am hoping he would not do it again, change and refrain his bad actions that contribute disasters to him.

My point of views: The damage has been done, the reputation has been broken and the trust has been altered. A lesson learned, do not leave your money anymore unattended everywhere and anywhere else so as to protect your belongings.

How to resist from temptation?

The Bible Dictionary defines temptation as “an enticement or invitation to sin, with the implied promise of greater good to be derived from following the way of disobedience.” Resisting temptation begins with knowing that Satan is the supreme “tempter” (Matthew 4:3; 1 Thessalonians 3:5) who has been tempting mankind since our Creator placed His first two children in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3; 1 John 3:8). Ultimately, however, we know that Satan’s power over Christians has been effectively destroyed as the war has already been won through our Savior’s death and resurrection which conquered the power of sin and death forever. Nonetheless, Satan still prowls the earth looking to drive a wedge between God and His children, and his temptations are unfortunately a daily part of our lives (1 Peter 5:8). Yet with the power of the Holy Spirit and the truth of God’s Word to help us, we will find ourselves effectively resisting temptations.
The apostle Paul encourages us with these words: “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man” (1 Corinthians 10:13). Indeed, every one of us faces temptations of some kind; even Jesus was not immune as He was “tempted in every way, just as we are” (Hebrews 4:15). Although Satan may be the dark force ultimately behind the tempting, it is our fallen and corrupted human nature that allows these temptations to take root and cause us to act on them, thereby “giving birth to sin” (James 1:15). But it is the power of the Holy Spirit that enables us to free ourselves from the sin and temptations we struggle within our daily lives. Thus, if we have the Spirit of Christ residing in our hearts, we already have what it takes to resist the flaming arrows the devil sends our way. As Paul told the Galatians, “live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature” (Galatians 5:16).
The Word of God has always been our best defense against Satan’s temptations, and the better we know His Word, the easier it will be to claim victory over our daily struggles. The Psalmist tells us “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you” (Psalm 119:11). When Christ was tempted by Satan in the desert, the first thing He did was to quote Scripture (Matthew 4:4-10), which eventually caused the devil to leave Him. Indeed, Christians need to be diligent in studying God’s Word. “Oh how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. Your commands make me wiser than my enemies” (Psalm 119:97-98).
In addition to God’s Word, prayer can help us to resist temptation. The night He was betrayed, Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane and He told Peter to pray “so that you will not fall into temptation” (Mark 14:38). Also, in the “Lord’s Prayer,” Jesus taught us to pray that we would not be lead into temptation (Matthew 6:13; Luke 11:4). Yet, when we do fall into temptation, we know that “God is faithful; He will not let us be tempted beyond what [we] can bear,” and that He will provide us with a way out (1 Corinthians 10:13). This is a promise from God, and like Abraham, Christians should be “fully persuaded” that God has the power to do what He has promised (Romans 4:21).
Another way to help us resist temptation is to remember what Jesus Christ did for us. Even though He never committed a sin, He willingly endured the torture of the Cross for us while we were still sinners (Romans 5:8). Every sin we’ve ever committed, or will commit, played a part in nailing our Savior to the Cross. How we respond to Satan’s worldly allurements is a great indicator as to just how much the love of Jesus Christ occupies our hearts.
Now, even though Christians already have the tools necessary for victory, we need to use our common sense and not place ourselves in situations that prey upon, or stimulate, our weaknesses. We are already bombarded every day with images and messages that tantalize our sinful lusts. We don’t need to make it more difficult than it already is. Even though Christ’s Spirit resides in our hearts, it is cloaked with our flesh which can be very weak at times (Matthew 26:41). When we know something is or can be sinful, Paul warns us to “flee from it.” Remember, the “tempter” is also the master of rationalization, and there is no limit to the arguments the devil can offer us to justify our sinful behavior.

Armed with His Spirit and the truth of His Word, we are well equipped to overcome Satan’s assaults (Ephesians 6). No matter what trials and temptations come our way, God’s Word and Spirit are infinitely more powerful than any of Satan’s schemes. When we walk with the Spirit we can look at temptations as opportunities for us to show God that He is indeed the Master of our lives.

Hangout with friends

After a very tiring 'speech choir competition in our English class, I, together with the rest of my classmates went to Tejeros to celebrate our victory. Abundantly situated in Valencia, Tejeros swimming pool has been a place for refreshment to all people who want to have their happiness. With its cool and fresh water, one could  probably enjoy its features. Coincidentally, our class found it awesome to spare our hangouts.

Despite the fact that we only grabbed  the 9th spot, we were still happy since the experience was great. On the first part of the competition,  mixtures of anxiety and excitement enveloped our faces. Well then, who would not say we performed well? Of course we have to appreciate ourselves! Good work guys!

Here are some of the pictures we had during our picnic and bonding in Tejeros. I am pleased to present these to you.

After being soaked in a cool water in Tejeros, this lad strive to make his body warm through sitting beside these four hot girls with all his might to fight the coolness of the water.

The mighty people! Surfaced with sheer delight, these classmates of mine have done something commendable in their performance during the competition.  Though you have moderate voices, you still able to surprise the audience through projecting your best moves and gestures.

Together with me were the winners. After drunk, these people portrayed the best pose they can. Look at their faces  in a seemingly tired mode.

These lasses are already drank. Hahaha, ang mga nawong baya oh. Mga palahubog!

The cool boy. Clad with Tanduay, this boy who performed the  "Manny Pacman Pacquiao " role in the competition proved his good performance indeed. Standing towards the pool's  fountain, he almost patches the ground posing a long period of time.

So hot. A body of pure masculinity. This is me. I was already drunk this moment. Nahubog na jud ko ani. Sakit kaayo ako ulo.. Sorry ha  niinom jud ko makahubog nga ilimnon.

Touching the nature! This girls with me was also drunk. So I tried to manage her pose since she almost collapsed. Hindi man masyadong maganda, pero ok narin basta mabait.

A genuine happiness. Go guys, we will hopefully have this again after our finals. For now  lets us focus  into our practice for the final countdown.

I am man of true virtue this time. Being their leader I tried managing their every pose  to be the best.

Happy again.

haha, murag abat ni oh. kulang pa na imo ngisi day,,.

Go guys! How many fingers you have?

These memories are lasting, I would treasure all of these. See you on the next time we will have another event like this guys...

On the Day Forward

Sinong mag-aakala na ang palagiang pagsasama ay magdadala sa isang stado ng natatanging pag-ibig ---Jessie Dolia

It was just yesterday when I thought of her while sitting in a chair with an eyes starred to a corner of vanity. Well, who would believe that because of constant fellowship would open to a especial feeling?

NORSU, lone source of PhD Math in Visayas

Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) pioneers the offering of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mathematics program in the entire Visayas after Dr. Michael Baldado’s success in his PhD career.

To augment the PhD in Mathematics teaching force, the administration is eyeing for Millard Mamhot, a PhD in Mathematical Sciences professor and Luz Nochefranca, a PhD in Mathematics professor from Paris.

In an interview with The NORSUnian, Dr. Baldado expressed his willingness in extending his knowledge to Math aspirants. Moreover, he expressed his happiness for another noble undertaking of the university. “I am happy that NORSU once again took another bold step; the offering of the PhD Math program,” he said.

On same accoutrement according to Dr. Baldado, Negros Oriental State University is the only state university in the entire Visayas offering the PhD in Math program.

At present, Dr. Baldado has 12 Math professor students and are currently studying of the said program. These math professor students include Engr. Mae Manahon, Engr. Joel Adanza, Mrs. Jacel Lincong, and Mrs. Normina Batucan from NORSU. Moreover, he has two students from University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R) in Bacolod, two from Negros State College of Agriculture (NeSCA) in Kabankalan, two from Silliman University (SU), one from the Department of Education (DepEd) and one from St. Louie School -Don Bosco.

Furthermore, the subjects that were offered for this semester are Real Analysis, Modern Math and Combinatorics.

Engr. Joel Adanza and Jacel Lincong, both faculty members of NORSU, said that they were very happy since the school has taken another level of excellence like the offering of the said course.

“It is very advantageous to us since we need not go to far-flung areas to have a study of our doctoral degree,” opined the two. “It is very economical because we need not use big amount of money for transportation and food allowance like when you study in Mindanao or Manila,” they added.

Moreover the two expressed hope that they can graduate with best knowledge since the curriculum is adopted the same from Mindanao State University and other higher education in the Philippines offering PhD in math.
